Mark Hunt Books Next Fight Against Justin Willis at UFC Fight Night in Australia
Mark Hunt will waste no time booking the final fight on his current UFC contract when he takes on rising heavyweight contender Justin Willis at UFC Fight Night from Adelaide, Australia on Dec. 1.
Willis announced the matchup via his Instagram account following an initial report from ESPN.
This may end up as Hunt’s final UFC fight following months of turmoil between the fighter and promotion over his concerns about performance enhancing drug use in the sport.
Hunt is currently embroiled in litigation against the UFC, UFC president Dana White and former champion Brock Lesnar after what unfolded at UFC 200 in 2016. On that night, Hunt lost to Lesnar by unanimous decision but it was later revealed the WWE superstar tested positive for a banned substance after he was given an exemption from USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) to return to fighting without going through several months of drug testing ahead of time.
Hunt has never shied away from speaking out against the UFC regarding his lawsuit and he’s said for months that he was looking to fight out his contract with the promotion.
The bout in Adelaide will be the final one on Hunt’s current contract.
Meanwhile, Willis has gone 3-0 thus far in his young UFC career while quickly rising up the ranks as one of the top prospects in the heavyweight division. Willis trains alongside current heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier as well as former champion Cain Velasquez at American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose.
Hunt vs. Willis is the latest addition to the UFC Fight Night card from Australia, that will air live in the United States on FS1.
